The purpose of this organization is to:

1. Advance the cause of education through communication;
2. Promote an understanding and appreciation of the value of school public relations, public information and communications;
3. Endeavor to stimulate an active interest among non-members in school public relations, communications and public information programs; 
4. Serve the public by striving to create a greater understanding of the programs, problems and benefits of public education; and
5. Develop fellowship among those who have common interests in educational public relations and information, and to develop, promote and exchange public information and community relations practices and techniques.
